This work on paper was created as a birthday surprise for an art collector in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was inspired by the recipient's childhood aquarium and his care for tropical coral that was part of his well-loved fish tank. The painting also expresses the couple's love of scuba diving, travel, and oceanic movement--the peace that can be found in nature and under the water. It is a mixed media painting, utilizing a number of mediums, from transparent paint, to colored pencil, to marker and ink.
