This was a lovely project, involving several steps. First, I visited the collectors' home to get an idea of their preferred colors and styles. After discussing their vision, we decided to create a pair of custom paintings, inspired by the grounding colors of the desert. This pieces were created specifically in tandem with music of significance to the couple. At the start of the project, they sent me the album Feathers and Fishhooks by Rayland Baxter (pictured on the right) and a special playlist, made on Spotify. Each piece was made while listening to their music selections, channeling the feeling, movement, and energy of the songs. We finished the paintings in a simple white frame, floating the works on paper.
